All Was Well . . . If You Just Had a Dime
Want to see a brightness lighting large fringed eyes,
black, blue, brown, green, gray shining like twinkling stars in a midnight sky?
Drop a cone in a small or even large hand
of vanilla, strawberry, chocolate or swirled from an ice cream stand.
Sunny weather
as a band in the background plays
or on a park swing with clouds floating away with little ones dazed or humming in sheer delight.
Drippings down the palms sticky... but O, everythings temporarily alright.
This sweet deliciousness atop a hot apple pie
can still sadness with a whiff and a spoon
amidst delightful company
headed home or not
soon
on a couch
or on a bed in a darkening room.
In a boat
as a banana split
or bowl on a lap
this treat relaxes kids
before night or a nap.
Parents, teenagers, and young adults brighten too with the chimes
of an ice cream truck
ringing back memories
of a gentler time
when all was well... if you just had a dime.

Hello please write me a poem about something happy. There are
no rules. i will maybe accept prewrites later, but i want to see
what you come up with on the spot. Remember, let the words flow
through your fingers, do what comes natural.
